L.S. Kozma Leaders

Les Kozma is one of the leading authorities on prairie Canada's rail network. Co-author of two books on western Canada's rural railway depots, Kozma has helped preserve a valuable record of the hundreds of structures that once stood at the head of western Canada's mainstreets. In addition, he has been author, or co-author of numerous articles on railways that have appeared in periodicals such as "Railfan & Railroad," "Trains," "Branchline," and "Railroads Illustrated."

He has also served on the editorial staff of the CN SIG magazine. But his preservation efforts go far beyond just publication. He is an exceptionally active member of the Canadian Northern Society and has given much time and effort to the depots they have preserved as well as the development of their site at Big Valley, Alberta. He has gathered and preserved literally hundreds of documents from the railways. He has undertaken major research projects on railway buildings for the Province of Saskatchewan. He has shared his research with numerous authors and helped them develop projects.

As a frequent co-author of Mr. Kozma, I can tell you that there is no one who is easier to work with and so willing to share credit. For all these reasons, I consider it an honor to nominate L.S. Kozma for the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame.
