|Ralph Grant (2012)
For 2012, Ralph Grant was inducted into the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame as Community Builder. On July 9. 2013 a special presentation was made by Vintage Locomotive Society President Bob Goch on behalf of Gérald Gauthier, President of the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame.
As one of the nine original founding members of The Vintage Locomotive Society Inc., which operates the Prairie Dog Central (PDC) vintage steam train, Ralph Grant has cemented himself as a key player in the Manitoba rail community. The PDC – the longest surviving vintage tourist train operation in Canada – is a Manitoba tourism and heritage icon. For more than 45 years and an estimated 20,000 volunteer hours, Grant worked tirelessly to keep steam locomotive No. 3 operating. He has served many roles with the railway, including president, and continues to pass along his locomotive knowledge and skills to new members of the society.
Throughout his career, Ralph Grant has dedicated his time and effort maintaining and sharing this important part of Manitoban railway history.
